Mountain Air Cargo Upgrades Caribbean Fleet with Cessna 408 Service

Mountain Air Cargo has launched Cessna 408 operations on the San Juan (SJU) to Antigua (ANU) route, marking another step in the company’s strategic fleet modernization across the Caribbean region.

The new service represents part of MAC’s ongoing transition from Cessna 208 aircraft to the larger Cessna 408s throughout their Caribbean network. The upgrade provides increased cargo capacity to meet growing demand in the region.

“This route change reflects our commitment to enhancing service capabilities,” said a company representative. The Cessna 408’s larger cargo hold allows for more flexible loading options, particularly important for the Antigua destination.

The SJU-ANU route will utilize bulk cargo loading methods rather than containerized Unit Load Devices (ULDs), accommodating Antigua’s ground handling infrastructure. While many major airports use mechanized systems to handle cargo containers, Antigua’s facility is configured for bulk cargo operations using cargo nets.

The fleet upgrade demonstrates Mountain Air Cargo’s investment in improved efficiency and capacity across their Caribbean feeder network, supporting the region’s growing logistic needs.

The new Cessna 408 service to Antigua is now operational, with MAC planning continued fleet modernization throughout their Caribbean routes in the coming months.
